Uncompress the downloaded file and execute openxava.exe (for Windows) or openxava (for Linux and Mac) you can find inside. In the case of a Mac, your Mac might refuse to run it when you click on it. In that case, open a terminal and type ./openxava. If it still doesn't work on Mac, try copying the openxava folder to a folder other than Desktop, Downloads, or Documents. It should work in the home directory or a subdirectory of the home directory. If you use a 32-bit computer follow the 32-bit installation instructions.
Then follow the Getting Started Guide.
