Research database with OpenXava

The Research Institute for Sustainability (RIFS), a research institute in Germany focused on societal change towards sustainable development and part of GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences, uses OpenXava to reimplement the web interface for its internal Research Database (RDB), the institute's main repository for project metadata and scientific activities. The system supports the harmonization of internal processes, the establishment of good scientific practices and standards, and reporting requirements for the institute's funding agencies.

When asking Jörn Quedenau from RIFS, why they chose OpenXava, he told us:

"Our motivation was to use a framework that is actively maintained and further developed, that works seamlessly with existing database schemas that have evolved over several years, that offers flexible options not only for CRUD operations, but also for other parts of our business logic (e.g., quality control and reporting) and that combines open source with useful premium features at a reasonable price."
